Tax Accountant

Job Summary:     

The primary function of the Tax Accountant is to ensure compliance with all reporting and other requirements and that sales tax, property tax, unclaimed properties, other government agencies reporting such as QFR 101 (Quarterly Financial Report), BE605 (Transaction of U.S. Affiliate with Foreign Parent), 720 Ozone Depleting Chemical, ACE-1 (Annual Capital Expenditures Survey), BE12 (Benchmark Survey of Foreign Direct Investment in the U.S.) are done on a timely basis.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:      

  • Monthly preparation of sales and use tax reports and remittances.
  • Monthly preparation of journal entries for property tax accrual.
  • Monthly reconciliation of Property Tax Accrual account, Sales Tax Payable account and Accrued Business Tax and License account.
  • Monthly update of Fixed Assets in the Fixed Assets Manager Program.
  • Preparation of check request for payment of property taxes.
  • Preparation of property tax returns for properties.
  • Preparation of quarterly reports to other governmental agencies such as QFR-101
    • BE-605, 720 Ozone Depleting Chemical.
  • Half-year end reconciliation of property tax accounts, 320-0108 & 735-0002.
  • Preparation of ACE-1(M) Annual Capital Expenditures Survey, BE-12 Benchmark Survey, BE-15 Annual Survey of Foreign Direct Investment.
  • Annual preparation of Drivers’ Statements and 1099 Reports
  • Annual preparation of Unclaimed Properties reports and remittances.
  • Yearly Preparation of Fixed Assets Schedule - a support document for Federal and State Income Tax Returns.
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual business tax & license reports.
  • Maintenance of Sales and Use Tax Rates in BPCS.
  • Assist in the preparation of UNICAP Working Papers.
  • Assist in the preparation of state income tax working papers.
  • Special Projects as assigned.

 

 Education, Skills and/or Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or accounting, or other related field 3-4 years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Must be adept in interpreting rules and regulations prescribed by various governmental agencies.
  • Experience in PC, with word processing and spreadsheet skills necessary to perform duties or position.

 

Language Skills:

  • Excellent written, verbal and spelling skills in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, other departments, all outside customers, vendors and governmental agencies.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Must have substantial reasoning and problem solving abilities, extensive planning and scheduling skills, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions best suited for the company.

 

Physical Demands:

  • May be subjected to working overtime as required.
  • This position requires ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, or reach.
  • May occasionally be required to lift, push, or pull items up to 30 lbs.
  • Able to work in an environment that is subjected to strict deadlines and multiple projects.
