Job Summary - Performs a wide range of duties to include but not limited to packing orders, manifesting packages, generating packing lists for shipments, verifying and auditing orders for accuracy, and preparing cartons for shipment, generating shipping manifests, bills of lading and other assorted documents required for shipping orders; also responsible for researching customer complaints / over the short complaints (SEDs).  Effectively utilizing WMS desktop applications and customer defined routing and manifest applications.  All responsibilities are carried out in a safe and accurate manner with the goal of providing the customer satisfaction and quality to our internal and external customers, consistent with Makita’s company values. 

 

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates the ability to use WMS and RF gun.
  • Ability to use necessary WMS desktop and Microsoft office suite applications.
  • Responsible for the fast, accurate verifying, packing and palletizing of orders to be shipped via common carriers.
  • Ability to generate and verify printed copies of packing lists, bills of lading and manifest copies.
  • Accurate and complete labeling of boxes and pallets to comply with internal SOP’s as well as published DOT regulations.
  • Can effectively copy, scan and file shipping documentation to assure Makita’s ability to provide backup documentation and historical records.
  • Ability to navigate and utilize customer transportation routing systems (TMS)
  • Ability to assist with multiple shipping functions such as LTL, TL, OR Parcel shipping.
  • Maintains neat, orderly, clean and safe work areas; this can and will include sweeping, dusting, trash disposal and other miscellaneous sanitation duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for assisting in management of the inventory.
  • Assists with physical inventory.
  • Complies with safety, customer compliance, and security procedures.
  • Focuses on satisfying both internal and external customers as efficiently as possible with a goal of 100% performance level.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work load requirements.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by management.

 

Education, Skills and/or Experience Needed:

  • 2 years minimum of warehouse experience or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Experience with desktop software applications. Fed Ex and UPS parcel systems.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Team skills: ability to work in other departments as needed based on workload and manpower needs.
  • Communication skills; ability to work and communicate with peers and management.
  • Ability to operate all manual material handling equipment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use WMS and RF gun proficiently.
  • Ability to follow instructions and follow thru with those instructions consistently.
  • Ability to manage time to complete the assigned work.

 

Physical Demands:

  • May be subject to overtime as required, weekends or irregular hours.
  • Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop or reach for extended time.
  • Requires the ability to lift, push, pull, items up to 65 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an environment that is sometimes hot or cold, and subject to occasional loud noises and / or hazardous conditions.
